To cope with climate change and the risks and challenges it brings to the environment, Kai Shing has established an environmental management committee and formulated long-term strategies for its operations in the three aspects covering the environment, society and governance (ESG). With ISO14001:2015 Environmental management systems implemented and certified continuously, our ongoing energy conservation and waste management programs have reduced our carbon emissions and achieved the United Nations sustainable development goals. As a result, Kai Shing has been bestowed with the Hong Kong Environmental Excellence Awards-Property Management sector's gold award for more than ten consecutive years. Kai Shing will continue to bring a more environmentally friendly and carbon-neutral living environment to residents and tenants.

The International Commerce Centre (ICC) managed by Kai Shing Management Services Limited was awarded ISO 41001:2018 Facility Management System Certificate by the Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency in August 2019. Kai Shing is the first company in Hong Kong to be awarded this internationally recognized certificate.

The qualifying standards set by ISO 41001:2018 for the certificate are achievements in standardized and consistent assessments and measurements of the procedures and performance of a practicing facilities management company based on quantitative analysis. In this way, the facilities management company will more effectively integrate people, place and process through the use of technology.

In 2020, Kai Shing has acquired the ISO 45001:2018 certification for Occupational Health & Safety Management System from Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency.

Kai Shing is committed to providing healthy and safe working conditions for its workers and other interested parties for the prevention of work-related injury and ill health and is appropriate to the purpose, size and context of the Company and to the specific nature of its OH&S risks and OH&S opportunities. It also commits to the compliance of applicable occupational health & safety legislations and related requirements. It is also its aim to eliminate hazards and OH&S risks and strive for continual improvement of its health and safety performances.

The International Commerce Centre (ICC), managed by Kai Shing, was awarded the ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems Certificate by the Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency in September 2011. Kai Shing is the first property management company in Hong Kong to be awarded this internationally recognized certificate, which bespeaks Kai Shing's leadership in environmental management in the property management industry.

In order to ensure that the 118-floor ICC use energy efficiently so as to reduce energy consumption and carbon emissions, Kai Shing carried out a comprehensive energy audit of the building and analyzed its energy distribution and usage through specially designed electricity monitoring and facility management systems. After the assessment, over 50 advanced and efficient energy-saving measures were set up.

In accordance with the standards set out by ISO 50001 and with "planning", "execution", "monitoring" and "improvement" as the principles, Kai Shing has organized a number of training courses on facility management and energy-saving for its management team in order to ascertain that policies are executed and facilities used efficiently in order to achieve optimal results.

The Kai Shing's managed International Commerce Centre (ICC) was certified by the Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency as achieving the standard as set out by ISO 22301: 2019 Societal Security - Business Continuity Management System in August 2013. Kai Shing is the first company in Hong Kong certified by HKQAA to achieve this standard.

Kai Shing established the Business Continuity Management System in ICC to continuously evaluate the risk associated with its operation and prepared necessary plans to minimize possible disturbance to tenants' businesses. Even in the event of experiencing hazard, the plan is made ready to reduce impacts to businesses as well as achieving speedy recovery.
